I’d often heard of this beautiful mansion located out in the middle of the Delta somewhere that you could rent out for weddings and such, but I had never stumbled across it in my numerous travels through the Delta. So one day while tromping around with Barbara Daly (who runs Delta Heartbeat Tours), I had the chance to see this beautiful place.
Grand Island is one of the prettier islands that I’ve visited in the Delta. On this day that I visited, they had just cut they hay. I love the striped fields …
Off of the ferry, it’s a left to go to the Grand Island Mansion …
Soon you will come to the mansion – trust me, you won’t miss an Italian renaissance-style Villa right there in the middle of the Delta.
Guests would arrive by riverboat to the 24,000 sq-foot, 4 story mansion with 58 rooms. It was built in 1917 and designed by architect J.W. Dolliver.
Welcome to the Grand Island Mansion …
What mansion doesn’t have a spiral staircase …
There is authentic period art through out …
There’s a movie theater, too …
and movie star-themed cabinets …
And an English Hunt-themed bar and lounge …
The Grand Island Mansion is available to be rented out for weddings and such …
And there’s even a Sunday brunch … Disclaimer: I haven’t been here for their brunch, but I’m definitely putting it on my bucket list!
